Handcrafted in Colorado
Beetle-kill pine tables with a story in every board.
Finished dining tables shaped from naturally blue-stained Colorado pine, selected for the grain, color, and quiet irregularity that make a room feel like home.

A table unlike any other
The grain is not a finish. It is the starting point.
Beetle-kill pine carries the blue, gray, and charcoal figure that develops naturally in the wood after beetle activity. It is not painted on, printed, or applied after the fact. The color runs through the boards themselves, meeting warm pine grain in patterns that change from one tabletop to the next.
That makes a beetle-kill pine table a particularly good choice for someone who wants the center of a room to feel personal, not pulled from a warehouse. Some tops have long blue veins that travel from end to end. Others hold softer washes of gray, dark knots, or small shifts in tone that become more visible as daylight moves across the surface.
A handmade table also changes the pace of a space. It gives weekday dinners, slow coffee, holiday meals, homework, and unplanned conversations a surface with more warmth than a disposable stand-in. The strongest choice is rarely the most perfect one. It is the table whose proportions fit your room and whose material continues to reward a closer look long after the first impression.
The material also gives a room something that polished, uniform furniture often misses: contrast without noise. Against plaster, stone, leather, linen, or painted walls, the tabletop brings a clear natural focal point. Its color carries enough depth to stand beside other textures, while the simple steel base keeps the overall silhouette grounded and useful.
Blue Stained Roots works with the character already there. Instead of trying to make every board match, the material guides the finished composition. The result is a table with visual depth, enough presence for a dining room or gathering space, and no need to repeat the same look in anyone else’s home.
Seeing the real table matters. The photographs show the exact finished piece, including the grain, color movement, resin work, and steel base. You can choose the table that feels right for your room before you make plans for pickup or delivery.

Time is part of the craft
From Colorado timber to a table made to gather around.
The work begins with fire mitigation on private Colorado land. Dead standing and downed beetle-kill pine is carefully removed, then the most expressive boards are set aside for furniture rather than overlooked as ordinary lumber.
Each log is milled by hand and stored in covered, moisture-free conditions for 24 to 36 months before it is shaped into a table. That patient curing period gives the wood time to settle, helping the finished piece feel stable and at ease in everyday use.
When the lumber is ready, boards are chosen for their scale, grain direction, and color. A broad tabletop needs the right visual rhythm from one board to the next, so selection is deliberate. The final design follows what the wood does well rather than asking every board to become identical.

Natural character, protected for the years ahead.
A table earns its place by being useful. Natural cracks and imperfections are filled with black resin, then the surface is sealed in transparent resin and hand-buffed to a satin or matte finish. The finish protects the wood while keeping its blue stain, grain, and texture visible.
Pine is a softer wood, which is part of its warmth and appeal. It also deserves ordinary thoughtful care: wipe up standing water, use coasters for drinks, place trivets under hot dishes, and clean with a soft cloth rather than harsh products. The goal is not to keep a table untouched. It is to use it well and let it become part of daily life.
The resin finish is water-resistant and designed to be lightly sanded and repaired if needed. Small signs of a well-loved home are not a reason to avoid natural wood. They are simply a reason to choose a piece made with honest material and a finish built to be maintained.

Choosing your table
A better fit begins with the way you live around it.
Start with the room
Measure the space you want to anchor, including chair depth and the room people need to move comfortably around the table. A table should make gathering easier, not turn a dining room into an obstacle course.
Choose the material you can see
Look closely at the actual tabletop photographs. Notice where the blue stain gathers, how the grain moves, and whether the mix of color feels calm, dramatic, or somewhere in between. There is no substitute for choosing the exact piece.
Let the base do its work
The steel base grounds the expressive top and gives the table a clean, durable silhouette. Consider the balance between the wood’s movement and the surrounding materials in your home, from linen and stone to black metal and painted walls.

Questions, answered
Before you choose a beetle-kill pine table.
Will I receive the exact table in the photographs?
Yes. Every available Blue Stained Roots table is a finished, one-of-one piece. Its listing photographs, dimensions, grain movement, and base details belong to that exact table.
What makes beetle-kill pine different from ordinary pine?
Blue and gray staining develops naturally in the wood after beetle activity. It is not a surface stain or a printed pattern, so each tabletop carries color and grain that cannot be repeated.
Can a beetle-kill pine table handle daily use?
Yes, with the ordinary care expected of a well-made natural wood table. Each piece is sealed with transparent resin and hand-buffed to a satin or matte finish. Use coasters and trivets, wipe up spills, and avoid harsh cleaners.
How do pickup and delivery work?
Blue Stained Roots coordinates local pickup or direct delivery in select areas. Contact the workshop about the table you are considering to discuss the best arrangement for your location.
